Two days ago, as I saw this guy smoking on a bench, I approached him without being noticed and I took some photos of his “fog”. I like to act as a ninja when I do street photography (first photo)! Yesterday I took a bus and there was a nice situation for street (third photo), then I was at that “yellow” corner and I thought that it was a good point to wait for the right person to walk in the frame. I was lucky because just a moment after arrived a guy with a balloon in the hand (last photo)!

A nice walk in the afternoon to enjoy the sun and take some pictures. I love the first image, a couple on Ponte Sisto, and it would be nice to find them to give them this photo as a gift. It really would be nice. The second photo made me think a lot. When I was a teenager I used to do stupid jokes with my friends, talking a lot about nonsenses. I enjoyed their company. In this photo everyone of this classroom is watching at his/her smartphone. What happened? I don’t want to judge, it’s just a consideration about our times. What do you think?

Chinese New Year

Yesterday I went in the Roman Chinatown, the Esquilino neighborhood, to watch how the Chinese community (and Romans too) celebrated the Chinese New Year, the year of the rabbit. It was the perfect situation to take some pictures and ask a girl for a portrait. This kind of event are really great for street photography, there is a lot of people and a lot of story to tell through photography. There was a kid peeping behind the curtain a show on the stage, I loved that. Here a gallery of image I took yesterday during the celebrations of Chinese New Year.

A beautiful walk to the Musei Capitolini is always a good way to discover, once again, the beautiful art of Romans and the stunning past of my city. Sometimes I forget to live in a city like Rome, in such a incredible place, so it’s important to remind me, through museums and walks, how beautiful can be, despite the difficulties, costs etc.

My Best Street Photos of 2022

This year is almost gone. I don’t want to write a post about my 2022, it would be too self-centred and boring. By the way, it’s been a year full of different things, good and bad, as happens to everybody, I guess. But let’s talk about photography. I tried to select the best street photos I took during this year, since the midnight of the 1 January until now (well, 2022 is not over and maybe I could take some good photos today or tomorrow, but I don’t think so…). Just pure street photos, no Raindrop Blues nor Urban Melodies. I chose the photos according to my personal taste, so I’m not really sure about my selection, I’m not a great editor of myself. But it’s ok, here is the gallery and I hope you will enjoy it!

1 January: a few minutes after midnight. In Rome there was a surreal fog that night, so fireworks were soft, weird, they look like a galaxy or a starry night sky. It was beautiful.

Yesterday I was walking on Ponte Sisto, the bridge that connect the Historic Center of Rome with Trastevere. When I saw that hand I immediately took a photo of it, I didn’t want their heads in the picture, just that hand, so clear in the middle of the darkness. It’s slightly out of focus, but I had to carpe diem!

Today I walked around Colosseo and I met a guy, he was about to do a wedding proposal (I guess). I asked him for a portrait and he said yes (I hope his girlfriend said yes too!). Then I took a photo of a beautiful sunset (nothing original, I know). Then I tried to change completely my style. I felt a bit melancholic today so I tried to send the blues away through photography. I took some image in black and white and then I used a blue tone to underline my feelings. And after this shoots I felt better: creativity can be a great therapy.

Roma Coast to Coast 2022 – Mura Aureliane

Here we are. I talked a lot about my new Roma Coast to Coast, so you already know everything. Now the gallery is finally ready, so there’s nothing else to say, I just have to show you the pictures. I enjoyed this walk very much and I hope you will enjoy it too. Here I’ll show you just a selection, the entire reportage (98 photos) for now is only on my Facebook page. After a couple of days of rest I’m back in the street. Sunday I did a walk around the train station (then I came back home walking, more 10km to add to the 22km I walked last thursday!) and I took some photos. Termini Station is the most important train station in Rome. It’s always a great spot for photography, you can meet a lot of different people and interesting situations. I didn’t take photos there since longtime. Later, a bird left me a “gift” on my head, but this is another story.

Roma Coast to Coast 2022 – Preview

A small preview of Roma Coast to Coast 2022. 19km (well, actually I walked 22km…) along the ancient Aurelian Walls. A different way to discover Rome and its daily life. I spent around 7 hours to complete the route, I took tons of pictures and Rome was really beautiful, but now I need a couple of new legs! These are only 20 images, the gallery will be ready in the next few days.
