It’s very hard to talk about 2020. For my job 2020 has been quite horrible, despite a couple of prizes and a new camera. If I think about 2019 I think about my exhibition in Chicago, my jobs in Greece and in Jordan, a new series, a lot of huge satisfactions for my career. Now everything seems to be lost or in a endless still, mostly in my head. It’s not easy to begin again after years and years of hard work, it’s not easy to find new motivations after touching the best moments for my career and then a year of emptiness. By the way, in 2020 I took some pictures, obviously, so I propose you a selection of 50 street photos that I took this year, when it’s been possible. I really hope the best for 2021 for me, for you and for all our dearest. Stay strong!Continue reading
8 years ago I had returned since few months from a trip to Istanbul where, in an exhibition, I discovered Jak Baruh’s works, a Turkish photographer who works with multiple exposures. It was an epiphany. I wrote a small note in my notebook and then left it there for two or three months to “rest”.
On December 14, 2012 I finally started working on some multi-layered pictures, without even imagining what it would lead me to. It wasn’t a very successful test, but it was the seed of a photographic project that now I have the luck and privilege to call “work”. After that test image, I asked a dear friend of mine for an opinion: “I’m trying to do some work with the multiple exposures, I’m doing some tests. I want to do it again better, though I want to send it to you so you can tell me if you think a nice idea can come out of it “.Continue reading
November is gone. It’s been a strange month for me. I faced a creative crisis, I had great difficult to leave my apartment to take some pictures but in the same time I won a photo contest and I received a new camera as prize. That gave me some motivations to go out and take pictures, so I began to shoot something with my new Ricoh. The images of this selection are a mix between my two cameras, Ricoh and Canon. Nothing incredible, but I’m happy to had the possibility to take some photos. Here a small selection of my 10 best street pictures of the last month. And how are you? Did you take some good photo in the last weeks?Continue reading
After two decades, some guys left Rome to come back in their childhood cities. I asked them the permission to take pictures during the move. Here a selection of images that I took during that busy morning.Continue reading
Autumn finally came, after the warmest september of the last years (at least here in Rome…). Now the temperature felt down suddenly and the first rains are already arrived: for me it’s been the occasion to come back under the rain to take some new images for my series Raindrop Blues. Here a selection of new pictures taken in august and september (so also in Southern Italy, during the only rainy day of summer!).Continue reading
I love to observe people on public transportations, I think they represent the real soul of a city, with their thoughts, their worries, their dreams. Israeli photographer Dina Alfasi, who works in hospital as engineer, takes bus and train to go to work and captures candid images of people around her. As she said: “I’m inspired by the little moments that happen every day. My work is a testament to telling stories through a single photo and proof that all you need is just to look around to find magic moments”. Her photos are just amazing, all taken with an iPhone. Follow Dina’s work on Instagram.Continue reading
Hi everybody. In the last few days I’ve opened a new account on Instagram to post all commissioned works I did in the last years. Parallel to my artistic projects that you know, I realize, with great passion, stage photography for cinema and theater. I took photos to several shows of the Roman scene and I have worked as a set photographer for films and short films. To put order to this “hidden” work that I do behind the artistic activity, I decided to open a new profile on Instagram, at_commisioned, to show you something different but which I really care about. Of course you can always follow my fine art photos on my “official” account alessiotrerotoli.Continue reading
Last week I’m back in Roma after a beautiful month in Monopoli, in the Southern Italy, where I basically go every summer since when I was born. Looking at the pictures I have taken in this place year after year, I noticed that I have a good body of work. So I’ll try to show you a selection of images, just to close this chapter (for this year) and come back to my “Roman affairs”!Continue reading
First month of summer is gone and like every year of my life I’m spending these days in the Southern Italy. I took some pictures there and then (Monopoli, Bari and Taranto), here a selection of my best street shots of this month. Holidays are almost finished for me and it’s time to be back in Rome soon, to work, to start another exciting year full of passion and photography.
All the best,
I’m working on something new, something different from my usual works. Maybe it’s not a very original idea, I don’t know, but I’m just trying to see if it works, if I like it, if you like it. The concept is to interpretate a street photo as a movie, with a line of an imaginary script (my degree in Cinema surely influenced all this stuff). These are the first “frames” that I’ve realized in the last days, in the meanwhile I’ll decide if I’ll go on with this idea. Thank you for all the feedbacks and suggestions.Continue reading
