Well, everybody is on Twitter knows that the last days were quite troubled, with a lot of employees that quitted their job due the behavior of Elon Musk and his controversial way to manage this social network. So many users, posting the hashtag #twittermigration, decided to open an account on Mastodon, waiting to understand the future of Twitter. I did the same: like almost every other social network (included Twitter), I opened two different accounts: one, in italian, where I write about movies, cinema and some personal stuff, and another more professional, in english, where I post photos and share my thoughts about photography.

Mastodon doesn’t have an algorithm and the number of your followers is not important like for other social networks. Interactions are genuine, I like the philosophy (no advertising, no posts by people that you don’t follow) and some nunber is interesting: I posted the same photo on Twitter and on Mastodon. Well, on Twitter I have 1189 followers and only 11 interactions with the post, on Mastodon I have 28 followers and 79 interactions with this photo. I posted it on my personal account and I opened the second account (the one about photography) only after this first experiment.
I’m still experimenting and I’m curious to discover its potential in terms of communication and, obviously, from a photographic point of view. The personal account is Alessio3R, the photographer account is TrerotoliPhoto (same usernames I have on Twitter!): if you are there too, please let me know! I’m also curious to know your thoughts about it.
